For those of you who have been keeping up, you might have noticed that I haven’t posted anything for about a week. Many times in my life, I let the things of the world get on top of me, and wander off of the path that God has laid out for me. I don’t ever want to over-spiritualize anything, but l do feel as if I was a spiritual battle last week and I didn’t realize it soon enough.
As we try to work toward coming closer to Jesus Christ, and as we are being restored in the image of God as seen in Jesus, we are challenging Satan. In Ephesians 6, Paul warns: ” For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Spiritual battle is as real today as it has ever been, and we need to be prepared for it. Satan does not want us to become what God calls us to, and will put all types of things in our paths to keep us from it. He knows our weak spots and exploits them. Be prepared. Expect the attack.
Pray: Holy Lord, prepare us for the battle that is to come!
